Found my missing cat by a fluke

My darling cat Charlotte went missing in the middle of January. She was never a wanderer so I really couldn't understand what had happened. Did all the usual posters and leafleting and got no leads at all. I became convinced that something awful had happened to her.

Yesterday I was assigned the trap/neuter/return job of a group of ferals living in the car park behind some flats about a mile from my house . When I arrived the man who feeds them pointed out who was who and then pointed to a fluffy black and white cat and said she was friendly and a recent arrival (since sometime in January). I then realised I was looking at Charlotte!

She is now home and under house arrest for a week or two while she readjusts and stops hissing at her brother and sister Grin.

And here is a photo of my darling girl.

How amazing. Is she happy to be home?

We had a cat go missing once. Turned out, he had crept up inside the engine of a parked car outside our house. The owner of the car only discovered him when he had driven about 30 miles home! Cat was safe and sound and delivered home again. They are amazing animals, aren't they?

Gosh 30 miles in a car engine is quite an adventure.

She seems happy to be home but doesn't entirely seem to recognise everything and is hissing at her sister who she was so close to. I'm sure she'll soon come round though.

And apart from being a bit thinner and a bit matted she's fine.

She looks suspiciously pleased with herself. Is that a 'before' or 'after' picture? Smile

Had they not checked if any of them had microchips?

What a happy ending! I hope she settles back in soon.

One of our cats went missing for 3 months and then a friend spotted her in a bush in February, managed to get her in the house and then got in touch. She was 5 minute walk away! We were amazed to have her home again!!

Congrats on having your Charlotte home Grin

Who is 'they' steppe ? I think the guy feeding them was in no way official. I imagine the trap neuter return would probably have included a scan though.

Oh wow that's great news, so happy that she's back home! She's absolutely gorgeous, you must be so relieved.

sorry just reread to Op and realise the guy who was feeding them hadn't trapped them. I was thinking he had them in cages.

That's great news! Hopefully she'll realise being home is the best place to be.

Yes, just to clarify - I am the 'official' in this situation. The guy feeding them is someone who lives in the flats and who called us in for help. In normal circumstances if I come across tame cats living with ferals then the first thing I would do is scan them.

Cozie that was a before picture. She is too desperate for cuddles at the moment for me to get a good 'after' one.

She has finally calmed down enough for me to take an 'after' photo.

Gosh - that's a thousand yard stare if ever I saw one. Very odd that she should have gone in that way.

I guess I don't even need to wonder if she's been neutered already?

How could that question even cross your mind cozie? Grin

How lovely! That's a long time to be lost. We lost ours for 6 weeks once and it was horrible. Some bloke had locked him in his flat

That's wonderful, glad you're both enjoying cuddles!

aww. I hope she settles back in at home soon.

Maybe a big red collar with your phone number on it. If you don't like collars you could go for sheep spray 😬
