Why does my cat meow like mad at me when...

whenever I let the cat in from being outside, he meows at me like crazy. Same thing happens when I go out and come back home. I can't tell if he's really missed me or if he's telling me off!

If he's anything like my old boy, he's full of pent up conversation and it all spills out. Answer him back! Smile

He's just filling you in on what happened since you were parted. Bibi does it if she comes into a room, never mind the house!

BertCat thinks I've abandoned her every time I disappear from sight for more than an hour. I'm greeted with excited mewing when I get home, until I pick her up for cuddles.

He is telling you about his day.

Love this thread and really miss having cats! When I was growing up we had a cat that had to go out for a bit before bedtime. I'm sure she used to swear angrily under her breath as she trotted out!

Definitely telling you about adventures. Mine was sat in the window howling the other day. I went in and found there was another cat sat outside the window
It was a bit like "MUM MUM there's a CAT looking at me. Make it go away. MUM MUM" Hmm

Old as he is, Seniorboy - in that situation - would be yelling at me.

To go get his shield and ensure his sword was sharp! Grin

I wouldn't have minded but there was an entire double glazed window between them GrinConfused

That may be why he was yowling so much - of the 'See if this DG window wasn't there, what I would do to that cat etc etc.' variety. Smile

A sort of cat version of road rage from the safety of your own vehicle. Lots of gesticulating and noise but no real action. Grin

Makes complete sense. He's currently grumbling because I am NOT IN BED. And therefore he can't snuffle in my hair

One of mine shouts at me if she wants me to sit down so she can get on my knee

I have a 20and a half year old lady cat - she yowls when she can't see us ( she is deaf and partially sighted) we have to go and find her and bring her to us at times. She will yowl as she walks into a room and if she realises we are there she will stop yowling and trill a 'hello'

Funny old pussy - she is a true parslaipussie though WinkGrin

Mine couldn't care less if I'm out of the house all morning and afternoon but God help me if I'm not in the house after 6pm when it's cuddles and lap-time on the couch. All she's missing is a little rolling pin as she stomps about the house doing her best "And what time do you call this to be coming home at?" routine.

Terrible for their routine. I have to sneak out of the house to go for messages even. Grin

Mine doesn't speak to me if I'm home later than 7pm on a weekday. This is my excuse for skipping the gym.
