Hello
We've had a bit of a weekend - 3yo ginger boy was obviously hit by a car and his tail has snapped and is damaged nearer to its start.

Tail isn't OK but vet said to bring him home - we're expressing wee - not as bad as it sounded - and seeing how it goes (he'll try a drug to kick start his system).

Anyhow, he's knocked his tail tonight and it bled a bit so I've put him in his carrying case for the night so he doesn't whack it again trying to climb under dd's bed. Do you think that's the right thing to do? And how about if I buy a rabbit type cage to keep him in while I'm out and he's on tablets? He's a bit dopey still.

Thanks - all ideas very welcome. If he's OK for the next few weeks they will need to amputate the tail but he's not up to it yet by a long way.

Poor boy. I suppose it can't hurt to keep him in his carrier for tonight, although it must be a bit cramped, and what about food and water? I would have thought a comfy bed in a spare room if you have one, or maybe in a small room, such as the bathroom or toilet, would be better.

For his recovery, if the vet suggests cage rest, then I would get a wire dog kennel of the type that Pets at Home sell.

Thanks - kept him in the carrier last night but I'll just leave him in the kitchen tonight. I need to express his wee for now - I must love him lots! Popped back to the nurse to check I was doing it right. He's a bit dopey but I guess the medication's tiring him out. I asked about a cgae and the vet said probably best just to leave him in a cleanable room on his own so he can try to use the litter tray and get water if he needs it.
