I've seen some lovely Bengal cross kittens and wondered of anyone could tell me about what sort of pets they make I have three children.

I have two bengal crosses. Part bengal, part tabby. They're gorgeous cats, but they have two very distinct personalities. One is a real baby and loves cuddles/being held - he would be great with kids. The other hates cuddles or even being stroked half the time. She would be a nightmare with small children unless it was VERY closely supervised and the children were taught NOT to stroke her/grab at her unless she came to them.

I don't think you can predict their behaviour too well, tbh, because it depends what breed they're crossed with and how strong the bengal is in them. Both of mine are very chatty and energetic (they're siblings) and they're lovely cats. Whether they're good with kids or not will really depend on their individual personalities and how well behaved the kids are!

Why not get a Bengal rescue? rather than buying a kitten.

I saw a Bengal-Siamese cross up for homing last year and the various caveats expressed in the advert were so firm that I blinked very hard indeed.

I would go for the cat and not necessarily the look. I've always had Siamese because the breed does have certain traits which I know and appreciate - but once they arrive then they're your cat even if they show a 'disappointing' side. People so often seem to assume that a cross will exhibit the best characteristics of each breed - when who is to say but that it will actually exhibit the worst.

I like Fluffy's idea of a rescue cat. You don't say how old your DCs are but the kitten stage lasts such a very short time and a mature cat - of which there are loads looking for homes - with a known character might be a better bet for you.

To be honest I don't actually want a Bengal I want a tabby I'd just seen the Bengal cross and wondered if they are much different than moggies. We have just lost our young cat who we had from a kitten but still have a 16year old cat who I adopted as an adult. It's would be my 10 year olds cat. I think we will just look for an ordinary tabby. Thanks.
