The litter tray

How often do you empty litter tray?

I collected my new cat yesterday Grin So far in the litter tray she's done 2 poos which I scooped out, bagged up and binned. Topped up litter tray a little bit with fresh litter. Got Bob Martin litter which seems really good, no smells even though she's done a couple of wees in there too. How often should I be totally emptying and re-filling?

I use Catsan, and like you, "turd toss" straight away. I think I do a full litter change, washing the boxes out with bio washing liquid (Persil or Ariel) about every 4-5 days. (We have two cats and two boxes, but they only seem to use one box.)

i use pets at home wooden pellet litter you can tell when it needs changing because the pellets disintegrate into dust it take my 2 kittens about 2 or 3 days before I empty the whole tray into my garden waste bin to go to the compost plant. its on special offer 2 30ltr sacks for £17 :) no odour from it at all I dot even wash or rinse the trays out just dump and refill

Daily, but we don't use much cat litter at each refill and we flush the poo down the loo as soon as we see it. We use wood pellet cat litter.

We litter pick the poo out daily and change the litter once a week. We use Biocatolet which is paper pellets.

my lot are fussy buggers...you don't want to know how many litter trays I have six!! and three cats.

bathroom and landing one are the favoured ones, poo is dealt with as done/discovered and same with pee....so they are probably changed at least once a day.

the one in the corner of the other room is old boy's favourite, we have to be super vigilant about that as a) the dogs see it as a snack bar and b) unless it is a teeny tray inside a big tray he is likely to pee over the edge....this is why I bulk buy zoflora and have all hard floors throughout.

the other three are rarely used, but get checked and changed as used.

...I actually have more litter trays as I leave them filled and ready to go in the shed once they are cleaned and dried.

I use litter liners and do a full clear every day. I poo pick as and when it happens.
