The litter tray

Anyone else have a cat who likes baths?

BogBastardKitten is a Siberian and they are reportedly 'fascinated' by water. He is living up to the billing and whenever I am in the bathroom running the kids' baths likes to balance on the edge dipping both paws in the water. He also now jumps into the empty bath and looks expectantly at the tap, at which point you are supposed to make it drip so that he can pat the water.

Anyone else got a water-loving cat? So far I have removed him from the bathside before he takes the plunge, but will it hurt him to let him find out what happens next? (obviously under supervision, if there isn't a human in the bathroom he is shut out).

I may be a little paranoid about cats/water having left a bathroom door open age 9ish, to the detriment of my grandma's new kitten. Kitten proceeded to live into her 20s and rule the lot of us with a rod of iron, but I still remember the telling off!

Yes. Our moggy loves water, showers, baths, running taps, toilets. Don't they all?

Yes up to a point, but I don't think I've ever had one which expressed such a clear intention of diving into a full bath before. May have ingrained notion that this is VERY DANGEROUS due to aforesaid grandma/kitten/bathroom misdemeanour!

Does yours jump into the bath and can it swim out?

Yes he does and he scrambles out. Don't deliberately leave him alone - he'd make too much mess! I don't see it as a problem that they like water. So does our dog

Yeah my cat enjoys the bath! He's still very young and was interested in the bath from the off, and then one day dd mushed banana into him fur and the only option was to bath him. Turned out he really enjoyed it and now I bath him once a week, although he's always trying to get in my bath with me!!

No, me neither, it's quite fun. Although we are a bit worried that the next stage may be us being joined by a fully grown one-stone cat when trying to have a relaxed bath Grin

I have a Siamese x who perchs on the side and dips her paws in when I'm in the bath. She did fall in once and wasn't bothered, just sat grooming until she was dry Grin

Yes, Pearl loves water and sometimes sits in the bath behind me whilst I shower Confused

I bought them a Lucky Kitty water fountain and she spends her time paddling in it.

Thank you all. It is definitely now a ritual that whenever a human enters the bathroom he jumps into the empty bath and waits for us to do our duty and turn the tap on Smile

He was a bit miffed when I declined to oblige at 4am!

Mine will curl up on the side of the bath but that's as close as she gets.

One of mine used to climb up to the kitchen sink as a kitten and sit under a running tap. He get absolutely soaked and then shake himself off. He's a bit more sedate these days.
