The litter tray

Another question... timid cat and building works.

This summer we are going to have some fairly major building work done. The decrepit conservatory will come down and a new sun room built, bifold doors and the living room wall is coming down.. so builders, lots of noise, hammering will ensue. Also the bathroom is going to be ripped out (original 1980 one... seriously grim!) and replaced.

Obie and Ophie are both quite scaredy cats. Ophie in particular is very timid, she's even scared of spiders! I am very worried about how they, and particularly she, will react . (Portia won't care..she'll stay on my bed I suspect!) Do I shut them upstairs for days on end, or should I put them in a cattery while the work is done, or just get on with it. I'd be devastated if she ran off in fear as she never goes further than two houses away!

I would either put them in a cattery for their own safety and keep an eye on them, visits etc. or put them in a locked room, removing the key, while the builders are around, have heard of builders accidentally letting cats out and them not returning, even though the builders were not meant to open the rooms.

Our boy likes to help when things are going on so he has always been kept under lock and key either in the house or in a cattery for his own safety.
