I have a six month old cat and occasionally, after she's been to the loo I notice a very teeny weeny little red bit just slightly protruding out her bum!

Most of the time she has a perfectly normal bum, I've gotten paranoid and keep checking!
But when going for a poo this tiny red bit is visible.

The red bit is absolutely tiny and doesn't stick out much, if at all, it just becomes visible where it wasn't hefore.

I am unsure if it's a proper prolapse or normal for cats...?
All my previous cats tended to go outside for the loo so I never noticed this before?

You may get a vet here tonight, Buttholelane but then again you might not - they post here voluntarily like the rest of us. (And glad we are of them.)

It does sound like an incomplete rectal prolapse. Has she been to the vet about it yet? If not, I'd have her along and also maybe try to take some pictures of the phenomenon with you.

When was she spayed?

No I haven't taken her yet, I've only noticed it a handful of times and it's always gone back in.
It's not at all severe either, literally a teeny bit of red that doesn't really protrude but is visible.

I've read differing opinions - it needing to be stitched, it being a problem that resolves itself etc.

Ooh, maybe three weeks ago? Approximately.
