Cat proof throw for sofa

We really want some throws for our sofa that we can snuggle under at night.

I have seen some lovely knitted ones but worry our cats (18 months) will destroy them when we're not looking.

What's the most cat proof material. Fleece?

Can I give it some invisible smell they'll hate?

Mine aren't interested in the throw at all.

However - if I leave anything fleecy lying about, they will shag it.

Destruction wise, they're into the carpet. With the claw stropping.

Have they got a nice, high scratching post? Needs to be high so they can stand right up on their hind legs have a good old stretch.

I reckon you should be fine with knitted. Unless your cats have Pica (obsession with eating wool) My Little Monsieur does. Have to stop him eating my Uggs and bits of fluff off the floor.

After several throws, blankets (and cardigans) have been wrecked by our moggie, we've accepted the only at to go is cheap fleece throws from Primark, recycled when they get too trashed. It helps that LandingCat only likes one of the couches to sit/paddle on. It depends on what your cat is like though.

I've hedged my bets and bought a knitted & a fleece one from The Range.

Will leave the lovely John Lewis cable knit for now Grin

Maybe your cats wont touch them, (mine adores them in a friendly way, I think it reminds her of her mama) or if you are capable of discipline (I know I would not) take them out in the evening and put them away when you are done.

Primark do really nice, soft, cheap fleece throws.

We get bedcovers from Ikea. A double one covers the sofa. They're inexpensive, tough and come in a range of colours. The cats never bother with them.
