The litter tray

Unreasonably upset?!

Last week our lovely male cat came home without his collar. It was a bit tatty but he has a habit of losing them so not a big deal and off I go to get another one. Three days later I notice he is wearing a brand new collar, not brought by me!! I check with DH and he didn't buy the collar either. So I take it off and plan to buy a tag with his name and phone number on it to let these other people know he has a home and is loved.

I tried to keep him in until I got the tag but he escaped through a small window upstairs! Now I haven't seen him for three days and have a very distressed little girl who was his best friend! Plus I am feeling very sad that someone has "taken" our cat (haven't told DD anything like that, to her he is off exploring).

To be clear there is no way you could mistake our huge fat glossy coat boy with a stray, no matter how pathetically he mieowed at you (which can be pretty convincing at times). Am I over reacting? And if not what should/can I do to get my DDs cat back. I was even tempted to put flyers through doors but don't know how wide an area to cover!

Firstly go onto local Facebook sites eg Spotted Bristol or wherever you may be. My local sites always have missing cats and dogs. Many have been reunited with owners.
I would target as big an area as you can manage, door to door, also signs on lampposts etc. but try local fb sites with his photo
good luck

i say Spotted as all my local ones are called that, e.g. Spotted Hemel / Spotted Dunstable, etc.
Join all the surrounding areas , put his photo up, keep posting on them

will do. and toes . I'd be heartbroken. I constantly see missing cats on the Spotted sites and mainly there's happy endings

There are several lost and found pet Facebook pages as well for different areas, get his photo on all of them. Hope he turns up soon.

I think posters around the area is a good idea. It sounds like someone else has taken him in. At least if they are putting a collar on him then they are looking after him.
