Cat with bite wound - advice needed (yes he's been to the vet)

Our 10yo cat was fine on Sunday, on Monday morning we woke up to find him feeling sorry for himself, with a swollen leg and high temperature. I felt his leg and could feel a couple of small scabs so assumed he'd been bitten.

We took him to the vet on Monday morning and in the carrier on the way he had a seizure, he's had one in the past, out of the blue about six months ago. When we got to the vet we also noticed he had a slightly sore eye. He had a long acting antibiotic jab (due to last 2 weeks) and a painkiller/anti inflammatory injection. He also has eye ointment for his eye. The vet said to keep him in while he heals but he doesn't need to come back unless he's not improving.

He is normally very independent and spends a lot of time out and about. I thought shutting him in would drive him crazy but apart from hating using a litter box he's quite settled and enjoying lots of cuddles and sleeping with me on the sofa because I'm a soppy so and so.

I think the painkiller must be wearing off because he's limping more again. He doesn't seem to be hot any more as his paws and ears feel normal. Do we need to give it more time? I don't want to take him back unnecessarily in case it was stress (rather than the high temp) that triggered the seizure but I don't want to leave him if he needs to go back. He can weight bear a bit but is definitely not taking his full weight on that leg. Is it worth seeing if they can give me some metacam for him without them seeing him again? I can give injections if need be as I was taught to do it when my friend's rabbit needed regular jabs.

Wow that got long, thanks if your read it all, I wanted to give the full picture.

I would ring and have a chat meta am can be given orally. They maybe able to prescribe without seeing the cat.
As an aside any cat that has had seizures should be investigated. Seizures due to temperature is very rare in animals.

He had investigations following his first seizure six months ago, he had loads of tests and everything came back normal. The vet did say if he's only having them very occasionally they wouldn't treat them anyway.

I will give the vet a call and see what they say re metacam.

I'd also give the vet a ring for advice, although we have a cat who was bitten on a joint in his leg and he was very sore and limping badly for a long time, we even had x-rays done as I was worried he may have broken it. Turned out to just be very painful and he did heal completely after about 3 weeks I think.

I have rung and spoken with the vet, he is happy for him to have some metacam so I'm going to collect it later this afternoon. Hopefully fuzzycat will be more comfortable soon.

The metacam doesn't seem to helping much, his limp is getting even worse, to the point of him barely using his foot at all. I have made another appointment for fuzzycat to see the vet tomorrow.

Oops, forgot to update.

fuzzycat had another painkilling injection on the friday and at 2.30am saturday he woke me with his 'chatty miaow' and was so happy - he was able to walk again and within a couple of days was back to normal. It was such a huge relief.
