Are they any good?

Also if I buy one does the cat need a separate bed as well, or will the tree function as the bed?

I've found one on amazon that should suit a large Ragdoll, its massive! :)

We got this one www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=816&pf_id=58798 a few weeks ago... it is fab...and huge!..and half price!

My cats are Maine Coons so while only 16 weeks old, the boy is already pretty decent sized and they love it.

I wouldn't bother with a bed tbh... cats tend to sleep wherever they fancy Grin

Cat trees are brilliant :) Cats really enjoy having a high place from which to survey their domain. My last foster two cats slept on/in the various platforms/boxes of their tree a lot, though not exclusively - they would also sleep on my bed, on the sofa, on the windowsill and various other random places. I have this one (though it was only £39 when I bought it) - there are loads more on Amazon. I've never bothered with cat beds.

We decided to get a floor to ceiling one - this - after we moved into our new house, the cats have only ever had a scratching post before and their eyes when they saw this going up were like saucers! They immediately knew it was for them even when the parts were lying around on the floor, one cat fell asleep in the hidey hole as soon as I got it out of the box. It is so sturdy - we have used a wall bracket to attach it to the wall but only because we have a baby on the way, if it was just the cats I think the weight and thick base would be fine. We actually had to remove one section because our ceiling was a little low. It is their favourite place to sleep now, they LOVE the hammocks. Slightly sad as that used to be our laps, but with new baby I wanted to give them somewhere else to go to escape.

As for beds, our two do love their cheap 'donut' beds in the winter, and their radiator bed, but for the other 8 months of the year they will sleep wherever.

How heavy are your cats? Mines now 5.7kg.

I've had mine from Russell Hardy (catscratcher.com) for over six years now and it's great for my two Burmese and Burmilla. It's taken an absolute battering but is still very much going strong.
