Where do I need to look and what do I need to look for? We have two small children (5y) so would need to be comfortable around children. I have had a quick google in my area but feel a bit lost! Thanks

the Cats Protection are brilliant and there is bound to be one in your area or close by. You will no doubt have to go undergo a home check or at the very least a homing questionnaire before you are able to adopt however they ensure all of their cats/kittens are neutered/microchipped and vaccinated before leaving.

The area specific websites usually have details of the cats they have available. Give them a call and they'll be able to match you up Smile

go to catchat.org and a map will come up click your area and all the local cat charities in your area will come up, speak to whichever charity you choose about your family and they will have cats who are suitable and cats that are not,

if you go to a center go with an open mind, as to sex, age, colour because you may have a cute little tabby boy in mind and may come home with a slightly older girl who is black because she is who you fell in love with, at the center look at all the suitable ones, then go round a second time and look at them again, the staff wont mind how long you take as they want the cat or kitten to go to the best home for it, adoption fees vary but usually rescue center cats are neutered, micro chipped, vaccinated, and deflead,

and usually rescues are good with back up advice at the one i work at you get an information sheet with your adoption papers but there is always someone on the end of the phone in the afternoons who is experienced with cats and we have a few people who ring up just for advice. any other questions feel free to message me
