she's not even old, maybe 5 or 6 (we're not sure, she was rescued).

she's always been very nervous and sensitive, her stomach has never been quite right either. (the vet said it was stress-related)

but this is something else: she weighed about 4kg back in February, and now she's not even at 3kg! that's a lot of weight to drop very quickly.

we did get a new baby this winter, and we adopted a kitten a year ago who's very much the dominant and keeps bullying her. We do try to stop him, but there's only so much we can do.

I de-worm her regularly, and she barely goes out, because she's a fancy breed (Ragdoll) and we were told she'd get stolen if we let her out.

The weird thing is that she still does like food, in fact she keeps badgering me for tuna. Which she is so getting now that I realized the extent of her weight loss.

I need to go the vet, don't I? Oh I hope she's ok sad(((

Yes, definitely go to the vet. Don't panic, maybe it's something simple that can be sorted out with treatment. It does sound as if there are a lot of stressors in your cat's life, maybe try Feliway?

Could be a thyroid problem.

Good luck at the vet.

Definitely check it out. That's 25% of his weight. That's like a human dropping 2-3 stones rapidly despite gorging on pies and cake.

My cat has an overactive thyroid with similar symptoms-increased appetite but rapid weight loss. He's now on meds for life but hasn't regained the weight. This is common in cats, but is usually in older cats (mine's 14.)

Yes vet...get them to run bloods as well as just examining her.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel so bad for only now realizing the extent of her weight loss (she's so fluffy, you don't actually see it!).

Will get her to the vet asap...

Don't feel guilty, we didn't realise the extent of the weight loss, it was picked up when we took him for his booster jabs, though we had noticed the increased begging for food.
