I just wanted to share how happy I am that I finally have a couple of cats who are actual friends. Over the years I've had cats who tolerated other cats but that's about it. I even had a brother and sister who were very close, but once I had them neutered seemed to go right off each other and I had to keep them apart.
I got Stanley, a male a year ago, and he is now a neutered, friendly easy going cat. And then I acquired a small black kitten (Bunty Marbles) and because she's so small - about 12 weeks old, was worried about him bullying her or just scaring her. Well after a couple of days she would chase HIM round the house, jumping on his back or playing with his tail which he would idily swish about and watch as she played with it. Then she would dive on him and playfight. At first I was scared he might be hurting her but his ears always stayed upright and she would make little grunty noises. There were never bites and neither of them ever yelped in pain. Then they would both fall asleep curled up together.
After a month they seem to be the best of friends. I've watched them very carefully and they both seem to really like each other, snuggling up together, play fighting and nuzzling each other. I'm so pleased!
