Got a call from the vets at 11.15 last night, our lovely tabby cat had been taken in by a kind person who had found her run over in the road, sadly she could not be saved. Had a terrible sleepless night and then had to break the news to my poor sweet girlies today who cried and cried. There is nothing worse than having to tell your children bad news. Awful day. So sad, poor girl. I'm going to see her tommorow before releasing her for cremation, then we will have a little memorial and plant something nice in the garden where she liked to lay. She was only 3 years old, someone had run over her and then left her little body in the road. I am so so sad.

Oh no 
I found our boy dead in the woods at the back of our house. He was 11 and we'd only had him 4 years. It's a terrible shock, isn't it? I cried for weeks.
I hope you manage to get through today okay.

i'm so sorry OP, our kitty died a few months ago and it is still very hard (I still cry when no one is looking). He was also only 3 but died from a stomach problem which came on suddenly and within a week in the vets he passed away.
I couldn't get the courage to go and see him a final time so think you're great to do that.
