I might love my cat too much.

We got her half way through our second round of IVF, which failed.
She has been such a comfort to both of us. We make such a huge fuss of her. We both have said that we actually love her.

Last week she had an injury that involved the emergency vet! We were both distraught.

Do we love her too much? Do we need to get a grip?

My vet tells me that the clients he has to be most careful with and what he says/does/facial expressions/comments are the cat owners. He says Hell hath no fury

I loved one of my cats too much. He died in December and I still have to actively not think about him, it's just the most terrible pain.

I wake up crying, I dream he's on my pillow. I miss him terribly like I never thought it was possible. He honestly felt part of my soul.

I wish I believed in heaven because of him, the thought of not seeing him again is something I haven't come to terms with yet. Even though I do know it.

I can't offer you any comfort. I nursed him 24/7 for the last month as he had cancer and I was pleased I'd done everything I could. It still felt like the shortest time though.

I don't want to think about it Laurie, so sorry for your loss. I still miss my cat that I had 30 years ago when I was young.

BTW she is fine now, she got caught on barbed wire that we didn't know was on the fence at the end of the garden.

My girl was scratching her ears like mad..took her vets, no mites, no fleas, no infection. Gave me ear drops and creme for the thinning ear fur..£46..and she's as healthy as a bleeding butcher's dog

blithereens, it has been 'proved' - there is something intrinsically wrong with those who dislike cats . A New York psychiatrist actually published a paper on the subject.

Absolutely adore my cat too. She's been a real comfort to me during my horrible marriage breakup and is lovely company for me when my DC are at their Dads so I completely understand how easy it is to get attached

Can't love my cats enough, as other posters have said, they're such a huge comfort in times of strife. My tom cat especially is the baby boy I never had, absolutely adore them. YANBU xx

I feel the same about PestoCat. He's just sooo lovely and seems to make all of us happy and more chilled. We had a terrible year last year, what with DH passing away, then our old female cat had to be put to sleep and lastly the beautiful white rescue cat we got in August got run over. New cat is ginger and lovely and because he was a baby when we got him in October, we kept him in for the winter. Now he's adapted brilliantly to going outside and uses the cat flap and we no longer have a litter tray in use. He also keeps me company when the DDs are at school/college.

Ah - a hunter. (Well judging by his body language.) Do you get presents?

Well he loves chasing little insects/fly type things aroung the garden, but we haven't yet received any gifts! Think we will soon though, coz he is dead fast and pounces on the slightest thing.

He also likes stalking our tortoises round the garden

He'll hone his skills over summer (but watch out for him trying to catch bees) and then be in the peak of fitness for the autumn influx of mice etc. You have been warned.

One of our neighbours had a tortoise in fluffy cats first summer "out", he was fascinated by it.

She described him as a "bloody nightmare".

Thanks Cozie, I have seen him swatting at bees. I do hope he doesn't get stung. And I also hope he will be a good mouser, as I think we may have some living under our shed. They gnawed their way in a year or two back, and ate their way through our paddling pool and a croquet set
