What's your litter tray routine?

Just that.........do you scoop out the wet stuff, poo and bin it? What do you put the wet stuff in? Do you empty the whole tray? Any tips to make the task easier?

It really depends on what litter you are using (and how many cats you have using one tray). Personally I use wood-based litter, which goes sawdusty when it's used. So I chuck out the poo as soon as it's produced/I smell it and then empty the whole lot into the bin and replace when the majority has gone to sawdust.

And I line the wheely bin with a wheely bin liner, so I can just chuck it all in without faffing.

I'd really like to know how often you all change your litter. I've been doing it once a week- is that about right or not? (Obv scooping out poo as and when).

I use wood, scoop as needed and change whole tray about twice a week. I scoop into nappy bags and then straight into the outside bin.

scoop any deposits 2 or three times a day, and new litter once a week, sometimes more often if it looks like it needs it

2 cats, 2 trays, but often they both use the same one so it gets changed a bit more often if it gets a bit yuk.

I clean it out and wash it once a week and scoop every day. I also put litter freshener in when I've scooped, and that's just reminded me what I forgot off the shopping list! I only have one cat using the one tray though if that makes a difference?

2 cats, only in at night. Change litter tray everyday. Rinse with boiling water, newspaper at bottom, then a black bin back. Litter on top of bin bag.
Put whole lot in green bin every morning. Happy fresh cats.

Never thought about lining with newspaper then a bag. I used to use those liners but she scraped through them all the time. What if the bag went first then the paper, so she would only scratch the paper?

I scoop a couple of times a day and change the litter once or twice a week depending on the weather. It's really only one of our cats that uses the tray (she's a bit prissy finicky and hates peeing outside) normally but several of the others will use it if the weather is bad. They don't seem to mind sharing. The little kittens have a separate tray as they are crated while they can't be supervised as they're so tiny.

1 cat, one tray which is right next to the human toilet as this is the only place it can go in the flat really. This means I notice cat poo very soon after it is deposited cos I see it the next time I go to the loo myself. Slotted plastic scooper thing hangs on a nail on the wall right next to the tray so I can scoop straight into the human toilet and flush.

I use cheap supermarket litter, and save on it a bit by using another tray to tip out the loose cleaner stuff off the top of the used tray before getting rid of the dirty.

Routine is to put the kitchen bin in the bath, tip off clean stuff into second tray then wet stuff into kitchen bin, letting any stray gravel fall into the bath rather than the floor.

Bin then gets taken out while the empty used tray is soaking in soapy water or occasionally a bit of bleach in the bath. Rinse in bath with shower, dry with a bit of bog roll, fill with the cleanish stuff I saved (which goes at the bottom so gets wet first next time and chucked) then top up with clean.

Probably once a week but depends more on what it smells like when I'm on the loo myself since it's so close!
