Pet insurance - argh!

I've always gone with Petplan - pricey maybe but never had a problem with claims and they've never quibbled paying out.
So went to insure Sam the Stray with them today and was asked if he had any medical treatment that I knew about. Of course he was at the vets last week and came out with antibiotics because of ear inflammation. On the grounds of that PP offered cover but have excluded him for two years for skin conditions and ear disorders (note disorders, they will cover injuries)
Arse. Do you ever think you've been too honest? Trouble is I work in the insurance industry and know how it can go wrong if you "don't mention something you really should."
Not a cheap policy as well. I could go elsewhere but have good experience with Petplan.

I would never mess with insurance declarations. You weren't 'too honest'.

(How is the lad doing by the way?)

Stick with Petplan! You're still insured for all the other conditions he could get and at least Petplan are happy to listen to your vet if he has a skin condition in that time that's unrelated. They usually ask for a copy of the clinical notes with a claim so would've found out anyway.

He's really good thanks! settling in and becoming a bit of a homebird. Put Advocate on him for the first time today and it was easy - he didn't notice was just interested in the dreamies I had hidden in my hand! Going back the insurance its only a 24 month exclusion not lifetime and as they said they would cover if for example he got in a scrap and injured his ear as that is different to infection. Plus he has cover for life for anything chronic so all good. And I have a clear conscience!

I had The Lodger chipped and he was so focussed on the treat the vet nurse was holding out that he simply didn't notice the chipping needle going in ! He was a ginger tom as well - they must all be really greedy be a different tribe.

I think the insurance will work out - as you said, you've got fair cover and you can sleep at night.

Even if you didn't tell them each time you claim they get the full clinical records ( in your policy document you agree to this) they would see the notes and exclude the condition.
