Good cattery in/around Brighton?

Hello all, we are new to the area and I am looking for a good cattery in or around Brighton, am willing to travel (a bit) for something that's not your usual "cat prison"!
Due to the move our kitty has had a lot of upheaval recently. We are going away for 2 weeks in the summer hols and don't know anybody well enough yet to ask them to cat sit.
I have found a few places online, but would like to have a personal recommendation. Thank you!

If you don't get a poster's recommendation, Sarah, why not ask your cat's vet practice? They may know of someone.

You can also get professional cat sitters who will eg come in a certain number of times a day, clean litter, feed and play - and may even taken in mail, check the place for burglary etc etc. They are to be found by googling on something like 'pet sitting Brighton' etc.

Thanks, cozie, that's a good idea! We actually haven't even got round to finding a new vet yet, thanks for spurring me into action on that front, too!

Not too comfortable with the cat sitting, I have to admit. I don't really like handing the house key over to a complete stranger.

It would feel a little weird to me also - but these firms are professionals and not nosy parkers. At least it's an option that you can consider.

Good luck finding someone anyway.

I can highly recommend Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel in Haywards Heath. They offer a free pick up from the station or you can drive there if your cat travels well. It is very different to a normal cattery and offers a clean, hygienic, large suite to each cat with great food, lots of cuddles and a separate room for play and sleep. Its lovely and Debbie who runs it is fantastic with cats. Seriously - give them a call and check it out. They're on facebook and have a website. We love it and totally agree that we would never put our cat into a 'cat prison.'

I'd happily stay there never mind Boo!

Thanks Lucy! Funnily enough, I have been to see Debbie at Longcroft and have booked in my kitty for the summer hols!

It's like no other cattery I have ever seen, so clean and friendly, really glad I found it.
Might report back after the summer if I don't forget, but I'm pretty sure that Longcroft is a great place. I might take some interior design cues from them for my own house!
