Poor pus has taken a turn for the worse

We aren't sure if the vet will operate tomorrow

She has a Vestibular condition - where a middle ear infection is too close to her brain

She is staggering and her head is very tilted & she was incontinent (poo) for the first time

Oh dear ,have you had a second opinion from a specialist vet in this type of condition ?

KatyMac Tue 07-Jan-14 14:45:48

No - we trust our vet and she has talked through all the options plus we can't afford any more treatment really (insurance has an amount a year & the op will take us over it)

The vet has said this op is for the cat, anything else we do after will be for us

Floralnomad Tue 07-Jan-14 15:00:25

I've read a few of your threads and frankly you are in a terrible position .As a complete outsider I think I'd be questioning if even this OP is for the cats benefit ,but if she were mine I'd probably be doing exactly what you are doing. Hope its successful this time x

Thanks - I do wonder but the vet convinced my dad it would help her......so it's not just me

What has the vet said will determine whether she operates or not? (Is puss home with you and to go on a fast tonight just in case?)

KatyMac Tue 07-Jan-14 17:31:52

Not it's tomorrow later on - so she was due to go in at 11 but she is going at 9:45 so they can assess her

Her eye got better but her head tilt & gait are worse (she couldn't/wouldn't come down stairs but sat at the top & wailed) & the incontinence is new

KatyMac Wed 08-Jan-14 19:55:16

Later on on Tuesday she got much worse then loads better - the vet discussed an abcess/eardrum possibly & she was much better after that

We discussed postponing the op but she was worried that it might build up again

She had the op - there wasn't any growth or cancer

She is OK & home; she hates her collar & she is very cross with me

Fluffycloudland77 Wed 08-Jan-14 19:58:46

Well it's not cancer so that's always good.

Just have to see how she is tomorrow now.

KatyMac Wed 08-Jan-14 20:35:52

It is good & she is sat by the fire - quite happy

furlinedsheepskinjacket Wed 08-Jan-14 20:38:58

ahh bless her x

cozietoesie Wed 08-Jan-14 20:48:43

Promising, KatyMac. How does her gait seem when she's walked?

KatyMac Wed 08-Jan-14 20:58:20

Much better

The vet was worried as she was so distressed at the surgery & kept scratching her ear & made it bleed - but now she is fine

They would rather she kept her cone on - but said we can take it off if she needs to & clean it with cotton wool & water if we want

cozietoesie Wed 08-Jan-14 21:14:01

If she'll tolerate the cone, it's best in those circumstances. Has she been given some pain relief?

You must be much relieved.

KatyMac Wed 08-Jan-14 21:32:18

Yes lots apparently & they wanted her a bit dopey even when she came round (as she is so lively)

Vet thinks she has some monkey genes in there somewhere

KatyMac Thu 09-Jan-14 16:59:48

She is much better today - she has had her drip out (& the bandage was off an hour later)

Now I have given her pain relief & I have to clean her ear out in an hour or so......I wonder if the 'sporners' on her might be interested?

cozietoesie Thu 09-Jan-14 17:46:19

Yikes. Rather you than me.

Glad she's much better, KatyMac.

KatyMac Thu 09-Jan-14 18:10:52

Hmm - I think 'rather you than me' too
