The litter tray

Why does my cat pee on clothing abandoned on the floor?

Her litter tray is kept clean - she shares with her "husband" (it is a huge tray and never any difficulty with them sharing), but if anyone leaves any items of clothing or a towel on the floor in the bathroom, hall or bedrooms, she pees on it. While this is very good for getting the DC and DH to put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket and hang their towels up, I am getting a bit tired of picking up a towel that has fallen off the hook or a T shirt that has fallen off the radiator, where it has been drying, to find that it is covered in cat pee.

Any ideas? We have had her since she was a kitten (she is the only cat I have had that hasn't been "second hand"!), she is gentle, cuddly and loving on her terms (she is a grey and pink tortie), gets on well with her "husband", no signs that anything else is amiss...

its probably because clothes and towels are nice and soft

Probably best to get a second tray. One tray between two cats is pushing it even though they get on well. (Seniorboy has two trays and uses them both according to whim even when they're both clean - maybe she's doing the same. (Peeing elsewhere according to whim so finding a nice soft place smelling of family.))

They just like doing it and have no idea it causes issues. Even if you tell them off seconds later they won't have a clue what they've done.
One of ours is a panic poo'er/wee'er and will go anywhere she feels like at times if stressed or one of the trays is slightly dirty or she just can't be bothered walking to it. She is the most submissive and weakest of our cats so I assume that has a part to play too.

One of ours goes on plastic bags on the floor, and another will go on my gym clothes if I leave them on the floor.
It's made us very tidy Grin

They jusy have strange toilet preferences (and both use the trays otherwise!)
