The litter tray

Poor Pissy Pussy (and poor us)

Our cats and DH moved from Paris to SE London last week. One was stoic and no problem on the journey, the other miaowed, panted and peed all over her box. She has expressed her disapproval of her new living conditions by peeing all over DD2's duvet on her bed, crapping on the door mat and jumping up onto the work surface in the kitchen and lavishly covering a tea towel left there with urine (something she's never done). DH has shut the cats (they are flat cats) out of the bedroom, but they still have the kitchen, bathrooms, sitting and dining rooms to run around in. We have feliway (and used it on the journey) plugged in, but she is still distressed and pissy. DH said that she stood next to him on the bed for most of the night miaowing, and wouldn't settle. The other cat, although clingy, is, apparently fine. They have the same bed and litter box that they have been using in Paris - all that has changed is their accommodation itself. Any ideas on how to calm Pissy Pussy down?

Perhaps we should move to Catford? Grin

Don't know if much help but when I was younger we moved to the next street and our cat used to go down to the old house. We kept her in and I remember her pissing allover my bed, and in the corners of my bedroom! She would only sleep in my room too. I think it's just their way of marking their territory. As dont forget it wouldn't smell like the old place to them so they have to scent it somehow ?

My Mum went away for the weekend many years ago, leaving me to house/cat sit.

The cat crapped smack bang on the middle of my Mums nicely made up bed!

It's a form of dirty protest I think. [or more likely, distress at the change]

It is still really early days, things will get better. Adding in Zylkene may help it has been shown to have a synergistic effect with Feliway. It is a nutraceutical, a milk protein that binds to the same receptor as diazepam, so anti-anxiety, but no nasty addiction.
I can imagine her little feline French voice though saying ' why hav you moved me to this inglish place!' (Spelling deliberate for feline French).

The feliway arrived today, apparently (I am still in Paris!) and DH plugged it in immediately. He said she seems calmer and a bit happier. I will get some Zylkene. Apparently last night she stood on the bed next to him and miaowed at him all night. The other cat got fed up with the noise and went to sleep in the sitting room.
