My cat's gone missing...

I am so relieved!

My old boy wandered off earlier in the year to hide somewhere to die. He was poorly with his kidneys. Luckily someone found him and too him to the vets so at least I got to say goodbye.

The worst thing about them going missing is when they come back with a look that says "pathetic humans - do they think I can't look after myself. What's the fuss"!.

Thankyou to everyone for posting. Its really appreciated. I don't think my family quite understood how upset I was...

Ches that is such good news! Really pleased he has come home!

Oh fab news smile

Mine went missing for 5 days in Feb, was beside myself. She had been locked in somewhere as was smelly, hungry and dehydrated on her return. She hasn't ventured far since then!! Just mooches around our back garden now........

Yay! What a relief.

Very scary - and in fact it stays that way a bit. You can have a mature cat who you think is hugely experienced in the outside but when they don't turn up for their supper, say, you still feel that little twang.

Have never had a cat , but must be scary letting them out for the first time .

So glad to hear that!!

They have absolutely no idea how much heartache they cause!!

PS - remember to contact Animal Search and your insurer this morning (if you haven't already done so) so that they can take him off the 'Wanted' list.

glad to see the wanderer has returned smile

cozietoesie Thu 22-Aug-13 09:12:45

Yay!

And why do they usually come back with that 'Wot you on about?' look on their faces. Blighters.

So pleased for you.

He's back!

Sauntered into the bedroom last night at just gone midnight as if nothing had happened.

Thanks to everyone for the handholding.

Looks like thecatneuterer was right, just off for a first explore...

Still crossing my fingers that he comes back

I'm sure 2 days feels like a long time for you but there is still hope

cozietoesie Wed 21-Aug-13 21:16:33

They get shut temporarily in sheds and outhouses a lot, I think.

issey6cats Wed 21-Aug-13 21:14:11

hope he comes home soon, one of mine did this to me the other day, he went out didnt come back in at the usual night time slot, then he didnt come in for breakfast really started to worry then, he didnt come home all day was panicking by then, suddenly 10pm appeared at the back gate like he had only been gone ten minutes, and this one is 7 yrs old and has been going out round here for the last 3 years

Chesntoots Wed 21-Aug-13 21:09:47

I will get the flyers tomorrow. It would have been today but it was after 6pm when I called.

Still no sign of him and no messages from any vets.

Fingers crossed he is just out exploring, but im getting really worried now.

Thankyou for all your replies - it really helps as im a bit stressed!

HidingUnderMyDuvet Wed 21-Aug-13 08:11:18

I really hope he comes home soon!

That's really good that insurance will send flyers etc. how long does it take?

cozietoesie Wed 21-Aug-13 08:07:43

Still rooting for you here.

Chesntoots Wed 21-Aug-13 05:43:13

Still no sign...

Its the not knowing that's the worst. I wonder when identichip will come up with chips that have gps in them?

Sorry to hear that Chesntoots. Any sign of him this evening? One of my cats disappeared for about a week once, I was so upset & really thought he'd gone for good or had an accident - but he turned up one evening out of the blue just as I was resigning myself to losing him. Hoping your boy comes back soon.

Chesntoots Tue 20-Aug-13 18:47:24

I'm hoping he is just exploring.

I got him from CP and they said his sister used to go off for a couple of days so fingers crossed!

I have been in touch with Animal Search and through my insurance they are sending posters and flyers for me.

Hopefully when he gets back he won't go far again - he will probably be missing his food too much!

He's probably just got the courage to go for his first big explore. I find cats often do that. I often find that 'new' cats go missing, often for a couple of days, they then turn up again and never seem to go far after that.

If he's not back tomorrow it would be an idea to put posters up/leaflets through doors. Particularly ask people to check their sheds/garages to make sure he hasn't been shut in.

Good luck.

I've had him just over a month and he has been going out for nearly a week.
He was in the house, having a cuddle at about 4am yesterday morning but hasn't been home since.
I had a look round the estate and was shouting him last night but he is still not here.
Realistically I know there is not much more I can do. He is microchipped so that is one thing.
I'm sad because I only lost my old boy a few months ago and losing another so soon really hurts.
I will have another look this morning but i guess it's a waiting game.
