Abscesses

My cat has his 2nd abscess in 3 weeks due to fighting. It's in a different place so know its a new bite. Think it's burst as he's starting to smell abit and his fur is stuck together but he won't let me look.

Got a vet appt tomorrow but just wondered if I can help him now. His eye is hurting as its slightly closed sodoes need to be looked at.

I do love him more than anything but his fighting is driving me nuts as well as making me skint!!

Can you get close enough to him to bathe it in some lukewarm (but fresh) saline?

Is he neutered?

Sorry - if it's the eye, it should just be warm water and some lint free cloth.

Yeah he is neutered, he's just extremely teritorial!! He won't let me ear him thinkits to do with when he last had an abscess I was cleaning him or putting drops inhis ear every 5mins so he's wary now. He used to give me a really dirty look!! It was quite funny really.

Ah well. Vet tomorrow it is.

Yes. Some toms are scrappers, neutered or not. Just comfort yourself with the thought of what it would be like if he was a full tom! (And if he's given a good account of himself, he'll hopefully have given the other cat something to think about so you may not be bothered for a bit. Is there a new cat on the block do you know?)

Yes there is and no one seems to know who it belongs too.

Love him he thinks the whole street is hisGrin

It must've been a tough fight as he was exhausted and slept most of the day. My neighbour who's garden he was fighting in was full of fur. He usually does a good job though Wink

Took my naughty boy to vets and she managed to take off the matted fur to reveal quite a large puncture wound. Looks quite deep and yukky.

So painkiller and antibiotics for him and £60 lighter for me.

Blighter.

Is he grounded for a few days?

Forever cozie i think!!

He's sleeping again now but been giving lots of kisses. Hopefully he's learnt his lesson as before the vet gave him his injections he jumped off the table and got straight into the cat basket! Usually it's a push him in backwards job.
