Cat keeps being sick (how original)

I'm posting on behalf of my very nice landlady.

5 year old male cat who goes outside. Periodically he is sick and then she gives him some OTC worming stuff and it works. The last few weeks it doesn't seem to have had any effect - goes a couple of days and then throws up again. Just food, no hairballs involved.

24hrs ago we got a Drontal from the vet down him but he brought it up 45 mins later along with undigested food and chunks of fur - real chunks, not a hairball. Then lots of retching liquid. Since then not very perky and not had much appetite - has nibbled some dry food, but would normally be climbing the walls looking for food.

Normally he has a bowl of dry food left out to graze from and gets wet or some tuna probably about once a week on average.

Any ideas? Overeating? Worms? Stressed from being fed the pill? Should we try Drontal again and hope he keeps it down? Or see vet?

I'd see the vet, Phyllis. Occasional sicks go with the territory but persistent vomiting combined with the latest symptoms you describe would make me want to have him checked over even though he's a young cat. It may be that his food is not suiting but probably best to make sure.
