I lost my beautiful cat to a road traffic accident. Just wanted to post in support of anyone who has experienced similar. Does anyone have any rituals to acknowledge their lost pets? I know I might sound a little crazy but he was my baby and I miss him dearly. So sending lots of love to anyone in a similar position as its not really the 'done' thing to express grief over pets you have lost as time goes by...still in our hearts though :)

Sending hugs your way. We never forget them.
I lost my cat 4 days before Christmas. I drove past the vets the other day and just burst into tears!

am dealing with this now, my poor baby 8 month old kitten was killed instantly by a car this evening. So broken. Missing him so much. His little life cut so short. Feel ridiculous for being so upset, especially since my children have taken it so well. Planning a burial ceremony tomorrow, and going to plant a blackberry bush, to commemorate him. He was defined by his beautiful black pugnose. Wish he was here.

My cat died 3 weeks ago. Couldn't bring her home due to the nature of her death and post mortem, so she was cremated but we're going to plant a bush for her. We have other cats buried in the garden, one under a rosemary bush, and another in a tulip patch. Each of their favourite snoozing spots in the garden. I like to keep a small photo frame with a picture of the pet in it. Don't find this weird at all, they're just as much family as any of my human relatives. I think we build even closer bonds with our pets because they instinctively pick up on our feelings, and we can tell them our secrets and worries in complete confidence! (Well, I do!)

14 year old cat died 3 years ago, still miss him deeply and imagine him here. 2 year old cat died in 1997, I don't feel I miss him in the same way (welling up and heartache etc), as it's been so long, but I remember his little personality with much fondness. You think you'll never love another as much as the last, but there's always space in your heart for a cat, even the grumpy ones. Smile
