Thanks wotnow, we are doing clicker training so can get more food into him like this too (will step it up a bit and feed him more). He's fine in himself although he's sleepy now as vet gave him his last jab this morning, so he's been fed twice today already, will give him a snack (some chicken) when he wakes up.

He needsots of little meals a day
Your vet is maybe not thinking it through . And has forgotten he's so young

I'd go for 4-5 small meals ESP as he's been ill

Was thinking the same Flora, when i picked him up they said '2 meals a day' but they had been overfeeding him as he was pinching food from the other dogs (vet told them the colitis was caused by over feeding and eating adult dog food), i thought pups were ment to have 3 meals (i know when our other dog was a pup we fed her 3 times a day). Will he be ok just having chicken and rice for a while until his tummy has recovered?

At his age ( he's only 9/10 weeks isn't he) he should still have at least 3 meals a day ,so I'd be tempted to just give him more regular small meals rather than 2 larger ones.

Pup had his check up today after having colitis (which has improved a little) and he has lost weight sad, vet said 'he's not underweight but if he loses any more he will be'. I have been feeding him chicken and rice (2 meals a day and using a little bit of chicken for treats and training), i'm now worried i'm not feeding him enough, i have been a bit anxious about over feeding because of what happens at the other end grin. I have been giving him half to 2 thirds of a chicken breast, a handful of rice and a small amount of live yoghurt each day (split over 2 small meals). He is 9.3 weeks old, lab cross collie type dog.

Today i have given him an extra meal (at lunch time) in hope this helps.

Yesterday i tried him with some different treats which are ment for puppies but this made his tummy poorly again sad.

I'm worried that chicken and rice might not be enough for him but whenever i try anything else it makes the colitis worse.

Vet has given him some more probiotics, what else can i try to help him gain some weight? he had his last jab today so can go out next week but i'm worried about taking him out looking so skinny.
