back story

so i got him back and managed to keep him in for a bit but he got out again through the upstairs window. have been round to the old house looking for him a couple of times and no sign. but now the neighbour who had been taking him in and feeding him, letting him sleep on her bed etc has just text saying "will you come and get (cats name).my cat wont come home because (cats name) wont go away. she came home after 2 days, saw him on the windowsill and ran"

my dcs are in bed so i thanked her for letting me know he was there and said i would be round in the morning for him explaining that dcs are in bed.

but really, she has been feeding him and taking him in, it's not my fault he keeps going back there. i do my best to keep him in but he is a cat, and even if it wasn't him round there, there would more than likely be another cat scaring hers. there are loads of cats all over the place round there. and cats roam. he is neutered and well fed/cared for here, he lies on my bed all day when he is here, i try so hard to keep him in (not that i think i should because i dont think it's fair on him but i dont want people complaining about him). i'm not sure what more i can do and i'm a bit pissed off TBH that this neighbour is now complaining about him hanging around when she has been encouraging him to do it until this point.

any advice? i'm on edge now everytime he gets out, waiting for the phone to go.

have both you and the new tenant complained to the lady that's been feeding him?

have you specifically told her not to feed the cat? I'd be tempted to lie and say he's got a medical issue and requires a very expensive special food and that normal cat food is likely to make him ill in a messy way....

she needs to stop the feeding and of he returns there she needs to call you earlier in the day so you can collect before dc go to bed

i have asked her not to feed him anymore, but it was a lighthearted sort of way as in "oh don't be feeding him, he'll only come back for more, haha" and she said she didn't mind (i did replace the food he ate).

not sure if the new tenant has spoken to her at all actually. new tenant hasn't even spoken to me about him, even though i have been round to collect post, instead she gets my friend to ring me and tell me he tried to get in her house.

i think she would see through the medical issue thing as she has fed him with no ill effects and the food i bought to replace the stuff he ate was just iams off the shelf in asda.

i am guessing that as she isn't happy with him being there now she will have stopped feeding him, but i will ask her to let me know he's there as soon as she sees him. my friend also knows to let me know as soon as she sees him.
