Puppy peeing in crate

Hi my 12 week old golden retriever has started peeing in his crate. He was sleeping in crate in our bedroom and I would take him out each time he cried. He slept through for a good few nights so we have moved him to kitchen. He goes in crate happily and I go as soon as he wakes us up in morning but last 3 days he has already done the toilet. Any ideas how to stop this?

Sleep with him in the kitchen until he's happy to go through the night again. You've moved him and now he's unsettled again.

I have a 14 week old puppy (mix of Shihtzu, Miniature Schnauzer and Norfolk Terrier!). We've had her 4 weeks and to be honest to start with we were far to laid back about housetraining her. Anyway, things are getting better with weeing with occasional accidents. I take her out regularly, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. However, she will not poo outside - only once in 4 weeks! I have read about crating her at all times (she is at night) but she cries and barks, so not really practical.

Does anyone have any advice or experience?

As long as he's happy sleeping down there on his own then I'd be setting an alarm to go take him out during the night as obviously he's needing to go if he's weeing in his crate.

If he's not happy being alone then I'd agree either move him in with you for a little bit longer or stay down there with him in until he's better settled.

Thanks everyone think I will try setting an alarm as he does seem happy so not worried he is missing me. Do you think 4 hourly?
