Dog gets bloody car sick!

We have a 10 month old puppy who gets car sick.

As soon as we get in the car, the drooling and whining starts - even if it's a 5 min trip.

He's not in car everyday, maybe once or twice a week. Whenever he does go in the car it's always to go on fun walks!

He's clearly very anxious, but cannot work out why and seems like a very difficult behaviour to sort..?

Anyone have experience/advice?

Dogs can get motion sickness and you can get tablets from the vets to try and prevent it. Have you tried letting him sleep in the car whilst you wash it or something so he gets used to being in the car without it moving.

I used to use drops you put in the drinking water with a dog I had a few years back. Worked brilliant. Did a 5 hour drive to Cornwall (with regular stops) and she was the tiniest bit sick as we were pulling into the carpark at our destination. Think I had them from Pets at home. We did several smaller trips prior to the holiday to make sure they worked and they did the trick every time.

I've had some success by using Adaptil collars.
Also, frequent very short trips or even just letting him sit in the car parked at home can help.

Our dog was really car sick as a puppy (although kindly used to eat it all so there was no mess for us to clean up... ) but she just grew out of it really. She bloody loves the car now, it's a battle keeping her out of it.

He's done an 9 hour drive down south with stops before, was absolutely fine!

Seems to have regressed recently and obviously now associates be car with feeling sick.
