Leaving a dog home alone . ?

I work full time and have a small dog. When I had him my ex worked from home so he was rarely left alone.
Up until recently I had a local dog sitter who I would leave him with for. 2 days, 2 days my childminder was at home with him leaving just one day per week when he was left alone from 7:30-6 .
My dog sitter has moved away leaving me with no care for him 2 days a week. Do you think it would be reasonable for him to be left home alone 7:30- 6 3 days a week?? He is walked before and after work every day but if this enough. Am I being cruel?

Maybe not an ideal situation but rehoming it would cause it more stress surely. Maybe an ad in the local shop for a walker?Or ask at the school?
