My 11 year old dog, has uncharecteriscally eaten through some wooden blinds about three hours ago. Most of the pieces are there. he has become agitated, pacing and panting, but then settling. He is unsettled and gagging. However, when out on walks he often eats anything in his sight, mainly grass...but behaves in a similar fashion an dis then sick and ok afterwards.
Emergency vet is 15 miles away. He hates cars and is sick and distressed when he travels. My partner and I have both had the best part of a bottle of wine and are over the limit. I have spoken to emergency vet and she has advised me if his gums are pink and he is not 'extremely' agitated it can wait until morning. His gums are pink. But this is very out of character, he never chews things, so bizarre that he chewed wooden blinds in the first place. I don' t want to distress him more by putting him in a car....any advice...

Hope all are well. How much of the blinds do you think he could have eaten?

He spent the night agitated and had to take him out for a walk at about 4am. Took him to the vets first thing and she thinks he's got a bit of blind stuck as his stomach is distended. However he is eating, drinking and pooing so he had an antibiotic and painkiller shot and I will take him back again for the same tomorrow morning. He didn't eat much of the blind but it is thin/ cheap wood so it so it is splintered a bit.
He's much happier now so will see how he goes.
