Puppy now 1; when to buy a new rug...?

Our dog is now 13 months old. She was doing very well with her housebreaking, no accident in probably 2 months or so but then a couple of weeks ago she had a terrible, terrible stomach bug and was so poorly/weak that the poor girl had accidents everywhere.

She's now completely back to normal, but the initial housebreaking combined with last week's sickness has really destroyed our reception room area rugs.

When do you think it's safe to take the plunge with new carpets? Any suggestions for deterring her from peeing on them in the future?

thanks.

What breed is your dog? Ours is a Lab and he was fully housetrained by about the 16 week mark. He had one accident when idiot DH overfed him he was about 8 months old. We are lucky to have a family room at the back of the house where he pretty much lives and we have had a cheap 60 quid rug from Amazon over there since he turned 10 months. No issues apart from the unbelievable amount of dirt that he brings in.
