we got puppy 4 weeks ago -now 4.5 months old and has had loose stools for most of the time.- tending to real liquid on occasion -on chicken and rice does fine then back to puppy food loose stools start. vet has treated conservatively with probiotics and bland diet after last liquid nastiness. on the probiotic he improved for a bit but gone loose again with a bit of puppy kibble added. Am trying wainwrights sensitive with chicken and rice now. hoping it was the food before- any advice welcome - he's thriving and putting on weight but its just worrying . Vet says to go back if it doesn't improve but thinks its just colitis as he is lively and well. saw vet last wed , not really sure how long to give it

It could well be a food allergy, chicken can actually be a problem for some dogs. Try duck instead, James Wellbeloved do a duck & rice ( one of mine with allergies is on it) but don't buy a big bag of anything till you know he can tolerate it or you could waste £££s. Most pet shops will let you have samples to try if you explain the problem.
Fish is good too usually.

If it doesn't clear up with any food then it could be IBD, one of mine has it. It's very like Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease in people in that it's an ongoing condition. Mine is on medication for it which she has every day to stop a flare up.
