Dog wants a poo during the night

Just looking for advice really. We rescued a dog six months ago. We now have two dogs. They are fed twice a day usually around 6am and then at 2pm with a couple of treats throughout the day. The rescue dog pretty much every night wants to go out for a poo during the night always around 1pm. It's not really a problem but I do have to get up and let her out. Should I be feeding at different times? She was at the vets the other for yearly jabs and was told that she is an ideal weight so I don't think that I am over feeding her. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Try feeding the second meal later to get her to last through the night. Mine have their second meal between 5 and 6 pm.

I feed at about 9 am and 5-6 pm , more like a normal breakfast and dinner time - dog always poos on his morning walk ( anytime between 7-9) and sometimes goes again on an afternoon walk , he never poos after tea ( unless he's ill) .

What time is there last walk and do they go then? I'd feed later about 4 hours before last walk.

Thanks so much for your replays. I usually walk the dogs around 6pm and they both always poo then. I let them out at ten and both have a wee. I was thinking either feeding the second meal earlier or possibly much later and hopefully avoid the 1pm poo and play with hedgehog in the garden! Many people feed their dog only once a day but I'm not sure how I feel about this.

You all feed your dogs twice a day? Shock

Blimey - ours get one main meal at 7am. Our beagle cross used to poo in the night - feeding him in the morning rather than the evening seemed to stop this.

I feed my dogs 3 times a day. They love it. Food is one of life's pleasures. Why restrict it to once a day. Plus 3 smaller meals a day is easier for anyone guts to handle. I take my dogs daily portion, divide it into 3 and they have it morning, lunch and dinner, just like me.

Pinkie - try adding a third meal later in the day (not extra food but a portion of the daily allowance) and an extra evening walk for that last poop.

Mine are fed once a day, early evening. They have a treat in the morning and that is it. All are spot on weight wise. We never have to get up to them. The cats on the other hand require feeding about 10 times a day and like to wake everyone up multiple times throughout the night, not for any particular reason other than they are cats and rule the house.

PS Is "play with hedgehog in the garden" a euphemism? lol

My dogs get fed 2 meals a day. Breakfast at around 0530 - 0600, and dinner at 1800. Unless ill neither needs a poo in the night!
