Ooh good luck! What breed is he/she? We've had our whippet puppy for three weeks now, I was preparing myself for absolute chaos after reading the threads on here but it's actually been far easier than I thought.

I picked up my GSD puppy in Saturday morning. Absolutely in love with him, he is gorgeous. He has made firm friends with my 10yr old JRTx already and I can't imagine not having him now. House training is taking a little while, but I will get there! Have a socialisation chart that we are starting to follow for him. So far he is taking everything in his stride

We picked up our cocker girl 10 days ago. She is lovely. It's actually going really well. But quite tiring.

We got our little monster last week, he's a 9 weeks old Lhasa Apso! He's already ruling the roost...

Mines a 12 week papillon puppy and she's driving me nuts! She's chewed all the skirting boards in the utility room and constantly pinches toys/dummies etc which she shreds. What makes it worse is that my 10 month old boy who had stopped chewing is getting roped in on the action!

On the plus side she is touch wood clean in the house during the day and night and when left alone for a short period.

I've just transferred her documents into my name.£16! I don't quite know what that gets you but at least it's done.

Hi, I'll join in. My springer spaniel puppy is 11 weeks old now and has been with us for nearly four weeks. Super cute and super clever. She was pretty much house trained within a week of getting here, thanks to decent weather and a permanently open back door.

She's lovely, but very nippy. We tried the yelping thing at first every time she nipped our hands or ankles and that worked for a while, but now she just thinks it's part of the game. It's a bit difficult because our last dog attacked my son which resulted in stitches in his face, so while he still loves dogs and he desperately wanted this one, he is afraid she'll grow up to be quite bitey. She only really does it when she's over excited or over tired, we're learning to recognise the signals.

We're going on holiday on Saturday, so she's off back to the breeder for her own holidays, I'm hoping a bit of time with her mum and dad and litter mate might get it out of her system.

She's a chewer as well, she'll chew your shoes while they're on your feet, my flip flops have tiny little holes all over them from her teeth.

On a plus side she appears to be an excellent Pokemon hunter and she spends ages going for walks with my son while they search for Pokemon. I can't believe the bond they've formed with each other in such a short period of time.

I'll join in - we brought our 8 week old Labradoodle pup home last Saturday. He's doing very well, fast asleep in his crate right now, getting up once or twice a night. He's got a bit of a thing for shoelaces but is otherwise very good so far!

Oooh I'm in. We're very excitedly waiting for our Cocker Spaniel. He's now 9 weeks and had 1st set of injections and chip done last week. We're going on holiday so the breeder is keeping him a bit longer with his mum to save for the distress of movement.

Looking forward to having him also nervous too! Going to try crate training (didn't exist when we had our lab pup 17 yr ago) have got bed, food, puppy pads, toys, collar lead, brushes, Kong and nylabones at the ready. Yikes!

This is my little guy. He is so clever. Can sit, down, leave and walking fairly ok on the lead around the house. House training is taking a bit longer but we are almost there.

1st jab tomorrow but we've been taking him out a lot and just carrying him, much to his horror. He just wants to walk himself! I've had him a week tomorrow and already couldn't imagine life without him!

He is getting in brilliantly with my 10yr old jrt x, lots of playing going on.

He is a real chewer already. I've found nylabone keys and a nylabone puppy bone brilliant to distract him from chewing things he shouldn't.

Can anyone help?

Dpup has the runs. We took her to the emergency vet and they gave us some probiotic paste to add to her food. It cleared up a treat.

The probiotic has now run out and within 48hrs she has the runs again. She is on the same food the breeder gave her but I wondering if this food doesn't agree with her.

Can anyone advise me on wether I should change her food, or do I need to go back to the vets again?

What consistency is the poo? How is the pup in herself? What food is she currently on?

If the poo is liquid/ water like I would get her to the vet again.

It's not liquid, it's a thick but soft (sorry ). It's not got any mucus or blood and she is absolutely fine in herself. Playful and happy like she always is. Eating and drinking as normal.

She isn't going anymore than usual either. So it's not like she can't hold it in. Just the consistency has gone back to how it was before the probiotics.

What are you feeding her?

As she is fine in herself and eating and drinking normally I would be tempted to just carry on as normal for a few days and keep a close eye on her. If it gets worse or her behaviour changes I would then go back to the vet.

It's purina pro-plan for puppies. Vet said it was a good brand, but I have to admit I find foods confusing. So just stuck with the breeders food.

She did have her last injection on Wednesday, never thought about it before now, but could that cause it I wonder.

I have this 12 week old dust ball. He's a Schnauzer/poodle/goodness knows what cross.

He has given us quite a run so far. Caught Parvovirus before his jab and was given a 10% chance of survival. Weeks in isolation, amazing vets and and £1000's have saved him. He now has some digestive issues and weak immune system so is still living in a sterile bubble in our kitchen for a few more weeks.

Sadly this has put our plans for toilet training and socialisation on hold. Plus he now has horrific separation anxiety from his time in isolation. Going to need a really good behaviourist.
