That's not a twig sticking out of your mouth, is it?

I've never experienced this before. My dog came in came in from the garden last night and sat guiltily on the sofa. That got my attention and I then noticed her mouth was full. Upon closer expection a little foot was sticking out. By the time we'd retrieved it the bird was dead. It was all a little upsetting. This morning my cuddly girl is cozied up to me, head upside down looking at me with eyes full of love and admiration and I adore her... but ick. My first thought last night was, "but this is why we didn't get cats!". I'm sure others have had it worse?

Quite possibly it was dead already.

My last lab once ate a blue title whole and live. <book>

New lab pup very kindly brought me a mouse last week. I also told him that's on of the reasons I didn't get a cat!

Blue TIT. sorry.

Ew, did you witness that Diamond? I watched my girl do one chew before dropping the bird and I can't wait for this memory to recede!

The blue TIT incident was about 4 years ago. I don't think I'll ever forget the brief tweet followed by the gulp, and the smug look on ddog's face.

Sorry.

My typing is horrendous today. I'd go back to bed, but I've not got up yet...

My lab gulped down a baby rabbit when she was a pup. I was trying to get her to leave it so she ran off and all i could see was the little bunny ears poking out of her mouth. I was horrified!

When I was about 13 I came downstairs to find our Goldie walking around with the body of one of our kittens dangling from his mouth, head not visible at all.
We fished it out and it was very soggy but otherwise unhurt

That's rough diamond. I don't know for sure but I saw my dog in hot pursuit of a bird flying low so I think it wasn't dead before hand. I'm now thankful I didn't see or hear more. There was an angry parent bird. Poor thing.

Oh blue sky, that's really awful. I think that might be worse. Years ago some young cats (not ours) killed a toy bunny (not ours) in my garden. I had to take the little bunny to the neighbour. A child answered the door. I felt like a real creep asking if her mother was home knowing I had her bunny in the shoe box I was carrying.

What a shock that must have been hopping! But so nice to hear a story with a good ending!
