post vaccine walk

It's been 11 days since the pup's second vaccine. Is it really risky to take her out now, or is the extra 3 days critical? She's driving me mental today and is desperate to go out. We've had a training and ball play session, but she's now pacing the garden perimeter looking for weak spots! Back in the house she's in the window, paws on the sill, taking it all in. I can wait, but do we really need to?

I am pretty sure we went out only a week after vaccination as that is how long our vet told us. It is entirely up to you, could you maybe just walk her round the block... slightly less risk.

Mine drove us mad as well and we were dying to start taking her out for walks, but we stuck to the full 14 days, figuring that the vet didn't tell us to wait 14 days just to annoy us!

Try to tire yours out with lots of indoor games and training, and start getting her used to the lead by walking her round the house. We actually took ours out for 'walks' by carrying her in a dog carrier to get her used to the noises and smells and so on, which helped with the excess energy.

I remember our first walk after the 14 days when she could actually walk on the lead without being carried. We only walked round the block for five minutes and then she slept for the rest of the day, utterly exhausted by the excitement of it!

We played more ball, until the kids got home from school and I could escape to work! She's a bit too big to carry comfortably for any distance more than the car, otherwise we'd be out more. Tomorrow we'll visit my mum, or rather her 11 month old pup, and they can romp around and wear each other out. Roll on Thursday - breakfast at the beach!
