Punterlab very sick on Saturday night, starved him on Sunday, more bile and vomit, to the vet on Monday morning, anti nausea and antacid jab, short walk with liquid poo. Went very flat during the day, back to the vet last night for hydration and overnight. Bloods are OK but still no eating and no interest in anything this morning says the vet. Will do x ray for foreign bodies etc. Really worried now, thought he would improve overnight, I want to go and see him and give him a cuddle, should i?

Mine did just this last week. They think he had a gut infection. They kept him in as he was very dehydrated. He came home and was fine and then went back downhill again. We realised that he was still not drinking. I had no idea that being dehydrated could make them that flat and ill. But kept getting fluid in him and he was a different dog. Mine also wouldn't eat when at the vets.

I wouldn't over worry just yet. At points I thought we were loosing him. But water and a good night sleep made the world of difference.

So keep thinking positive thoughts.

You know what labs are like for eating every bit of rubbish they can get. He might have something stuck. As long as he's at the vets and is getting fluids and they're going to X-ray then he's in the best place.

Have a hand hold though. They put you through the wringer don't they?

Ddog was like this with a foreign body stuck in his oesophagus, although it was obvious something was badly wrong

He got dehydrated very quickly because of all the bile and saliva that was coming out of him and because he couldn't drink

One of the first things the vet did was an X-Ray so I hope you get the answer soon

As soon as the blockage was out he was pretty much back to normal

Fingers crossed for your lovely lab

Had this twice with our 3 yr old lab, he eats anything he finds outdoors the stinkier the better. Both times X-rays showed nothing and after 48hrs of a dire rear in the vets he was back home. The silver lining is it's not on your carpet.

Hope he feels better soon!

Can echo the comments above, it's likely he has eaten something he shouldn't have! If you want to go to see him you should, it will make your both feel better I am sure. Hope he has picked up today. X

Another one with a Hoover mouthed lab that found a discarded chicken carcass on a walk and made herself I'll. She didn't look at food for nearly a week, which is unheard of for her. She was right of rain once it had gone through.

Fingers crossed for you. Its horrible to watch them poorly.

Thanks for your hand holds. he is still at the vets. The vet went 'in' yesterday to check for foreign objects etc, found his gut was flat and not working at all. Cleared him out, apparently the smell went through the entire surgery and they had to open all the windows and doors. He is on wide spectrum antibiotics until they get the sample test results back. Did not get to see him last night as he was in la la land and spark out. Waiting until after morning surgery to get down there. Vet did not say he would now be ok but I suppose he couldn't. He reckoned he ingested something toxic or got a bug from somewhere. Fingers crossed, but I keep crying as I come across his stuff. Positive thoughts .

Big hugs. Dustylab used to like ice cubes even when not wanting a drink.

Sounds like he's on the mend! On the very rare occasions my labs have been off their food, chicken and rice usually does the trick - plain poached chicken mixed in with white rice and all the poaching liquid to make it nice and sloppy. Never been refused though once had to be hand fed.

When the vet rang early this morning he sounded positive but the nurse at lunchtime said he still had the runs so contact again this evening. How long can this go on ffs.

He came back on Friday afternoon, looks worn out but is eating and drinking OK. Has stitches that he does not seem worried about so thank goodness we do not need the cone of shame. Thanks for all your good wishes, I guess he will take a week or so to be back to his normal bouncy self, can't wait!
