Greyhound owners with at least two children

We are hoping to get a greyhound. We have two children as well as another small dog. Just wondering what car you have and how you transport your dogs. Our current dog goes in the boot in my small car and in a crate in DH's estate. Trying to figure out how we would fit a greyhound in as well!

Would think in an estate boot should be plenty of room for a greyhound & small dog but depends how much other stuff you need to transport. If using a normal crate do lose a lot of floor space with the angles & they often aren't strong enough to withstand a crash. Small car with little boot room not sure its possible with rear seats in use, maybe if greyhound would fit in the boot small dog could be crated/ secured onto a seat (if front the airbag needs to be turned off).

We have an estate car with a guard between boot/back seats and our greyhound has the boot to herself. She is very protective of her boot and gets perturbed when she has to share it with the box of wellies! We use a roof box if we are going away overnight for our bags. In your situation you might need to have your smaller dog secured on the back seat while your greyhound has the boot.

One word of caution - our greyhound can't get into the boot of my car (Alfa Giulietta) because of the high lip even though the boot itself is big enough so make sure you check your greyhound can get in and out of the boot easily.

Greyhounds are the best so I hope you can find a solution.

We have an SUV and the lurcher and greyhound go in the boot. Won't always jump in though and prefer to be lifted!

Just realised how PFB I am being about my dog and how I am so obviously a single dog owner! It didn't occur to me that your greyhound and small dog could share the boot space of an estate car but it would certainly be big enough.

Mine would also prefer to be lifted but that's not going to happen!

We have a skoda Octavia vrs estate. The boot is huge and fits our 2 female greyhounds.

Roof box if you are going away.

You should be fine with an estate. We had a Mondeo estate when we got our first Saint, she had plenty of room to stand up & turn around even with all 3 dc on the back row. Now we have 4 dc & we have an SMax (purchased before we found out about #4) with a guard that just runs by the seat in the very rear so ddog can't accidently fall on eldest DD, it works but we are looking to upgrade to a Galaxy (we've had one previously & preferred it overall).

Thanks for the input everyone. I think we will get a dog guard for DH's estate and have them both in the boot and a roof box if we go away. There is no way I can fit the children and both dogs in my car though so will have to think about changing it when I can.
