Here. Simply beautiful and made me cry for the loss of a dog so loved.

I read that last night and was alternating between floods of tears and laughing out loud. We lost our lovely boy a couple of weeks ago and it sums up how I'm feeling at the moment - thankful for all the joy of having him in our lives and so sad that he's no longer here.

Our boy was called Pickle, he had be put to sleep in March, I had no idea this letter existed. I do love Sue Perkins great actor and presenter etc., but to express her love for her dog like this ... well, I couldn't have put it better myself. Sobbing as I type now.

Lost my beloved boy, Paddy to cancer yesterday. He was only 10. Sue puts it beautifully. I am looking at his empty bed with his much chewed and literally dog-eared toy sheep and cant't bear the thought that I will never again see his laughing face and the wag of his stumpy tail. There will be no reason to have mats all over the wooden floor which he hated so that he could island-hop his way to the back door and no reason to cook an extra sausage, his absolute favourite.
It was all so sudden, ten days from taking him to the vets because he was having a bit of D&V, and having him PTS, very ill yesterday. I am glad that we were all with him at the very end, all of us stroking him and it was very peaceful.
There is such a joy to owning a dog.

Oh, cannot stop crying here! I think I read these things to try to prepare myself. I will go wash my face now and then give my girls a cuddle.

I read this too with tears in my eyes. Going a bit misty eyed now thinking about it.

I love these words by Irving Townsend

We who choose to surround ourselves
with lives even more temporary than our
own, live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan

Oh my God. Our dog is nearly one - I'm dreading it already. Hugs to those who have lost dogs.
