Should I take Ddog to beach ?

Today we are planning in having a day at the beach (1 hour train journey) but don't know whether to take Ddog. The tempratures are to be mid twenties with no clouds. He's 11 and quite slow. He also doesn't cope well in the heat - no energy and has even threw up before - he won't go in the sea beyond paddling but he loves being out and about and going places. If he goes I will take a big umbrella for shade and lots of water for him.

But I'm worried the whole experience will be stressful for him and he'd be happier in the house where he has the run of the place and I can take him a short walk before we go (leaving at 11) DH will pop home for him about 1 then be home at 5 when we'll take him a proper walk tonight when it's cooler ?

I wouldn't. I would be tempted, the beach might be fine for him but the train ride might be horrendous if it's hot and stuffy on the train.

i would not even consider it....he sounds very geriatric and this heat on a train could be hugely stressful

very unlikely he's going to enjoy himself.

That's what DH just said, he'll be happier at home. I want him to come but he is older now Sad and it's just selfish of me

It's the train that's the issue Hmm

It's a shame isn't it but I agree... I would leave him at home with a cool fan and his bed. Before he knows it you will be back Smile

He stayed at home and I'm pleased he did. Train was hellish and so hot on the beach, not even a breeze he would've been miserable.
