My 2 dogs have been attacked by the same dog on 4-5 different occasions , each time whoever is walking the dog apologises but yet the next time we see them the dog is again off lead and runs over aggressively, snarling & snapping at mine until someone grabs it and drags it away .

Both my dogs have had grazes but luckily no bad bites due only to my husbands quick reactions but smallest dog has had his harness/coat ripped during one attack so was very lucky not to be injured further.

We spoke to the owners the first couple of times ,they said at first it only happens with small dogs but when my little dog was home with a bad paw it then attacked just my large dog !!

They told us they would muzzle him & were seeking training for him , we thought great this dog will get help but a few days later it attacked my dog again & they told us they had a muzzle but it was at home and they just wanted to give the dog a chance - my Dh got quite annoyed at this point and told them they had to get the dog under control as we weren't willing for our dogs to be attacked all the time .

After the last attack ( 2 occasions on the same walk )
We rang the dog warden to seek advice , the dog warden went out & told them the dog had to be controlled & muzzled at all times in public , we obviously were happy with that as our dogs would be safe .

Today my Dh was out with the dogs & Dc and yet again same dog off lead not muzzled saw my 2 and started to snarl and went to run at them but luckily was grabbed by the walker so he didn't get chance to snap this time .

My Dh wants to ring the warden again , he's had enough ( we all have ) and the people who walk the dogs seem to believe we are the awful ones for ringing the warden & tbh I DO feel awful but I'm at a loss as to what else we can do !

Please any advice ? What would you do in this situation ?

Call the dog warden again. Stress that you are worried due to the aggressive and uncontrolled manner the dog is behaving that you might be bitten if you intervene. You have lots more protection now - just stress that you are the one that feels threatened. They can't act with dog on dog but if you stress that when you have to separate them you feel you may be bitten, it will give them more powers to act...

I know you & Dp are right auntiedee , the warden asked if we felt in fear when we spoke to him last time , we do feel in fear especially when the dc are with us but now I feel really upset about where this might lead as the owners /walkers haven't listened .

I feel upset and angry to have been put in this position Sad

Don't worry about the dog being PTS - the first stage would always be an order to always have the dog muzzled, and breach of that would result in a fine. For a dog to be PTS there would have to be serious breaches...

You could think of it that by reporting it now you are potentially saving the dog's life by preventing something bad happening x

I'm an emergency nurse and many of the dog bites I see are from owners protecting their own dogs from dogs like this. I think you should call again, your dogs have been lucky so far but what if a smaller dog/or owner was to get badly injured or worse?

Also dog owner and irresponsible owners really hack me off.

Definitely ring the warden again. When the warden starts talking about fines, etc they may be more likely to muzzle and leash the dog.

That is really good to know Auntiedee , that is what was worrying me .

I am worried for us all obviously but I was also worried about this dog & feel it's the owners responsibility to do the right thing for him , I think this dog could be helped with a bit of common sense !

Thanks for the advice everyone , I will ring the warden in the morning & tell him what happened today .

Definitely call the warden. Hate it when irresponsible owners take no action to keep their dogs under control. What will it take for them to do something? You, your other half, your kids or the dogs to be injured? Get evidence too. Bad owners will lie through their teeth to get out of anything!!!! If your are walking with your other half, have a camera ready.

We have been meaning to get photos or video but it's been difficult so far as we've needed to pick the little dog up & keep the aggressive dog away at the same time , until owner/walker arrives .

I think we will need to make sure we go out together at the moment , at least until we know the warden has spoken to them again.

Just a quick update .

I did speak to the dog warden last week , he is coming to us today to take all the details & discuss the next step , he then will be visiting the owner & has also said he wants to speak to the dog walker as she is employed by the owner & should be acting in a professional & responsible manner whilst walking someone's dog .

Hopefully we will be able to walk our dogs in peace again soon!

Good god this would piss me right off. I think you've done well to remain this calm! Hope you get it sorted out.

Thanks Mrsadorabelle , I'm hoping that a fine will be given & make them rethink how they are handling this .

Yes we have been calm considering how many times it's happened but the attitude of the walker on the last occasion has infuriated more every time I think of it !
I have told the warden that we have had enough & there is likely to be a bit of a showdown next time if something isn't done .

Are your own dogs on leads? If not, then I would quickly recall and leash when you see them.

My little dog is Marcopolo but not our labrador , he is a big softie & runs away if he sees the dog .

It's our little dog who is on an extendable lead that this dog goes for mostly so we end up having to pick him up & hope whoever is walking the dog can grab it before it gets to us .

Warden just came out with a colleague , he says that the owner thought that the walker was muzzling the dog ?!?

Warden has told us that if this is true then dog walker may be prosecuted , they haven't spoken to her as yet so we will see if she will admit that she hasn't been .

I'm glad you've reported it
My mils friend had a small.dog that was attacked by a much bigger dog, she got the dog off her dog and the bigger dog attacked her. She received life changing injuries (inc psychological ) no dogs should be out of control and aggressive off lead. I have no idea what they are thinking!

It should not only be muzzled, but also kept on lead the whole time.....a muzzle is not 100%, and it should be prevented from interacting with your dog full stop.
