My fiance and I went out for his birthday last night, so our dog went to kennels, not his usual one as it was full - didn't realise it was half term. Anyway, picked another local one which looked fine and as it was for a night and the dog is a very happy, friendly, 10 month old poodle, what could go wrong?
WELL
WE just picked him, I had driven and was feeling a little worse for wear so fiance went in to get him and came out looking a little grey. I had booked pup in for a bath whilst he was there as he loves attention and I thought he looked nice and fluffy from his groom.
Turns out he was completely bloated because they thought he looked skinny and overfed him! He's a young poodle, starting agility with slight luxating patellas. Of course he's lean! I take him to the vets at least monthly for a weigh and to 'socialise' him so he doesn't think the vets is bad - his weight has never been mentioned.
He was sent with extra food because, well, thats what you do. Not only did they feed him all the food he was sent with, they also fed him purina kibble! My raw fed, only carbs from veg and the odd gravy bone dog, has been fed fucking kibble!! And its purina a completely unethical, awful company which I don't want being fed to my dog.
SEETHING.
He has also been sent back without his medication which he has if he's feeling a little stiff and some random blanket covered in other dogs hair!
I'm so angry that they've done this to him, he normally has boundless energy and is now asleep on me whimpering every now and then with a hot water bottle on his tummy (pfb) and I feel so shit for leaving him there!! I've dogs when I was younger but when I left home I left them as family dogs and this is the first dog that has actually been mine and I feel like I failed him. I'm aware I'm precious about him, but if I pay you to look after my beloved dog, I expect you to do as I ask!!!! :(
If you have got this far thankyou for reading the rant of a precious first time mummy mother.
