Having to wash a golden retriever after he's rolled in a big fresh fox poo is not one of them! Any tips?

Tomato ketchup is supposed to neutralise the smell- I have it on excellent authority. However since this marvellous piece of news was imparted to me I have never had an opportunity to test it

I've heard the tomato ketchup tale too.

Hose off outside with rubber gloves on (You not DDog). Then spray with Foxy fox poo eliminator. Then spend rest of the day being sighed at theatrically by Very Sad Hard Done By Dog with head in his paws.

My JRT does this
I dunk her in the nearest stream Smile

However, the best thing I have found for the smell is to pull a handful of long, thick grass up by the roots and rub it off with that. I read it somewhere and it does work (along side washing) to eliminate the smell

wookie why are you suggesting I hose off? Wink

He's cream, will tomato ketchup make him look like he's been in a bad accident? Or turn him pink - off to find out!

You can buy fox poo shampoo that is supposed to wash away fox and other poo and eliminate the smell, we have a tube of it but a dog that it is too much of a diva to get mud on her never mind poo!!

So I just tried a little bit and he just smells a bit of ketchup now! Should I just rub it in or wash it off?

DDog will not let me hose him off outside. I've put him in the bath before but he's not bad enough to warrent that (he's 30kg and fights going in every step of the way).

Ours got washed with a watering can rather than the hose-she was too heavy to force into the bath. Now she's gone the memory of seeing her shoulder going down and us all screaming 'noooooooo! Don't do it!' Is hilarious because we no longer have to sit in the car getting gassed with fox shit fumes
Does it help if you think 'Awww, he's trying to disguise himself as a fox!'

You need Fox Poo shampoo. My lab has now resigned herself to being hosed down if she rolls in fox poo but she really doesn't like it. I secure her to the fence otherwise she would be off at a rate of knots!

Fox poo is smelly, but rotten seagull is a different level of disgusting. Walks on the beach do have hidden disadvantages!

We had rotten seal once. Unreal.
