Please can I have all of your pull through vibes please. I took on a 13year old staffy 2 days ago. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met but came down quickly with vomiting and diarrhea, this morning the discharge started heavily and she was rushed to emergency Vets. She has been stabilised with fluids, antibiotics and painkillers and is now heading to theatre for pyometra. I feel hopeless

You are lovely to take on a dog of that age - many wouldn't. Fingers and paws crossed here. Keep us posted.

Acolyte · 29/07/2014 12:00

I'm sorry, I don't have any stories with happy endings but I'll be rooting for your bitch to pull through.

Lonecatwithkitten · 29/07/2014 12:04

I have far more happy endings than sad ones including one last week who I really don't make it through with the highest white cell count I have ever ever seen and pancreatitis at the same time.

DogAndBeardedDragon · 29/07/2014 12:16

Thankyou. She has come direct from the pound with full rescue back up. I have 2 oldies myself a greyhound and basset hound and she had no offers of a home. I'm so worried, waiting for vets to ring is torture. She must of been in so much pain I feel awful but all she did was wag her tail.

my wee dog had it before she came to live with me, she was pregnant with a litter of pups at the time and lost them all, but she came through fine and was healthy and happy very soon after with no ill effects except a scar which has healed to nothing now. That was 9 years ago and she is still fine. Hope your little lady is back with you soon for some much needed cuddles on both sides!

DogAndBeardedDragon · 29/07/2014 12:33

Thankyou, I'm so glad to hear your dog recovered I no she has only been here 2 days but I already love her so much. She's clearly been over bred and abandoned but yet she's been nothing but an angel

Poor dog ,I hope she pulls through but either way I'm sure she was happy that she has a loving home . Will keep our fingers and paws crossed for her x

Molly has just come out of theatre, the pyometra was near to bursting but she's made it through the operation. She's been kept in now for close monitoring but she's alive. They will update me again when shes come round.

I will cross my fingers for your beloved dog.

You have changed her life even if it's only two days she had two days in your home and had the life and attention she deserved.

That alone is worth more than you could possible imagine. Don't forget that!

Big hugs to your dog Thanks

DogAndBeardedDragon · 29/07/2014 14:04

Thankyou, the Vets sound optimistic that she will recover as the pyometra didn't burst, just lucky it was open pyometra and not closed as wouldn't of caught in time. I can't wait to hopefully make her remaining months/years happy

OP posts:
Gileswithachainsaw · 29/07/2014 14:09

You sound lovely.

I'm sure she will enjoy her time with you! No matter how long or short.

She has such a sweet face in the photo.

Better stock pile some treats for when she comes home.

SpicyPear · 29/07/2014 14:16

I've known staffies go to 19 so fingers crossed it's years. There is nothing that melts my heart quite like little grey senior staffie chops. She's gorgeous.

DogAndBeardedDragon · 29/07/2014 16:42

More good news, Vets just rang Molly has turned a corner, shes been for a little walk outside is much brighter and is amusing staff with her wiggle butt and kissis. She's staying on fluids tonight and I will here from Vets first thing with regards to hopefully bringing her home

Aked · 29/07/2014 16:47

Ahhh, bless her heart. What a sweetpea. How lovely that she has found a home at her time of life, her little face looks like she deserves it.

You are an angel OP :) Hope she gets to come home for good tomorrow.

DogAndBeardedDragon · 29/07/2014 16:50

Thankyou I'm so happy. It's a shame I can't stay at Vets over night with her as I really would if I could :)

Great news x

ClaimedByMe · 30/07/2014 10:04

Just seen this, as a fellow rescue staffy owner I am so glad she is doing ok, that picture of her made my heart melt. I know the wiggly bum and kisses all to well, our rescue, although not an oldie, has not been without problems either.

Wishing her a full recovery from Rose x
