The doghouse

Boots/wellies recommendations please!

Currently I have a pair of cheapy wellies that are ok, but aren't going to live forever.
I'm looking for some recommendations for wellies or boots that'll stand up to muddy dog walks and general "farm" chores.

I was looking at muck boots but the reviews seem to be either fab, or not worth a penny so they seem a bit risky.

I don't have a budget - for good stuff I'll pay :)
I am wide of calf however, which means they either need to be short, or suitable for wide legs.

Thanks

I have The Original Muck Boot Company ones. Mine are 'Greta' which have a deep tread, and I have so far found them really, really warm, totally waterproof and very comfortable. Far more so than any normal wellie. Highly recommended by me! They are quite chunky to look at, but still light to wear, and look like they will last a lifetime..

I've got Seeland ones (big calves here too) and they're perfect :-)

I am wide of the calf and having worked as a large animal vet for 15 years I am a wellie expert. Whilst I trod the farm yard huntresses were the only suitable foot wear. Now I ave given up cows and only wear wellies for fun I have the most amazing pair of Sea Salt wellies and can honestly they are the first pair that have slip off my ample calves easily. They are the sorter style.

Argyle, not cheap, but great tread, very supple and you can walk for miles in them.

I'm extremely happy with my Muck Boots, but I have standard size calves.

I have a pair of Ariat Conistons and they're fantastic.

I slogged around Bramham horse trials in them last month (it was very, very wet) and I remained both dry (at least below my knees) and comfortable. I also use them as day to day boots in colder weather Grin

This is the thread that inspired me to buy them. I've namechanged since, I was DameDeepRedBetty back in those days.

Forgot to say, I am also fairly wide of calf and the laces mean the Conistons are adjustable so they fit just fine.

Aigle parcours; I have them in green but i see they are on offer here.

I'm wide calves too and the half boot style is really comfortable - so comfortable that I often forget to take them off after a rainy walk.
