How affectionate is your dog?

I have a small dog who is very lovely, quiet and placid. I sometimes forget she is here but every time I bend down to pick up toys, sweep up etc she leaps off the sofa and licks my face and keeps nudging into me to get closer. Her tail and body wags with excitement.
I've only just realised that she does this every time I'm closer to her level!
Cor,she is sooo scrummy.
Are most dogs this affectionate?

My dog loves cuddles, kisses, sitting on my lap etc, he would be petted all day. My bitch is like a cat, she'll come up for a bit of fuss, then walk off after a minute. She hates being hugged.
I prefer cuddly.

My dog loves sitting on my lap. Unfortunately he's a 29kg labrador so a bit awkward.

WeAllHaveWings I have a Labrador who is exactly the same. She thinks she is a lap dog! She is snuggly and huggy and loves kisses. Her favourite time is evening when she gets to come up on the settee and cuddle up to us.

I have a Labradoodle and a Staffy.

Doodle would love to be upside down in your lap, getting belly rubs while he 'purrs'.

Staffy WILL sit on you if your lap is free. You have no choice!

Ridiculously. He seems to want to occupy the same floor space as me, walk through doorways at the same time as me (he's too big!) jumps up madly whenever I stand up, licks my face whenever I bend down, greets me like I've been away for weeks when I've popped upstairs for 10mins...and so on.

Is yours a dachshund?

One of mine is dachshund and he's hardly ever affectionate. Never kisses and only really likes a cuddle off my son.

My other two (a jack and a Yorkie) are snogs central. Could kiss and cuddle all day and love being snuggled up with me. Grin

I LOVE when Labs learn to cuddle. It amazes me that they can come right up to you and in for a hug, yet they have no arms, just legs.

Glorious

My dog is a spaniel cross, she's about the size of a Jack Russell.

She is our first dog and I'm amazed at how loving she is, follows me everywhere and has recognised signals that we're going out.She goes straight to the window to wait for our return when she knows she can't come with us.

I think I've got the dog bug now and would love another but sadly we can't afford it.

He's very cuddly! Although 35kg of dog on your lap gets a little uncomfortable at times. If he wants to come up then he'll sit and look at me, then one paw comes up on the sofa, then he sort of glides the other paw on the other side of me and buries his head in my jumper and snuggles in, then very slowly (so as you don't notice?!) the last two paws come up and hey presto! He's laid across your lap all snuggled in.

Your dog sounds great.
I love dogs who have no idea of their size and will just squeeze on you lap anyway. They do make your legs go numb eventually, but I always feel too guilty to disturb them!

Eric loves people and especially us Grin He will always choose to sit on a lap if one is available and really loves lying on my shoulder. He has a never ending desire to be patted and stroked and greets everyone like his long lost best friend even if you only left the room for five minutes. I love him, you can't help but smile when he comes running towards you tail wagging furiously desperate for some fuss even if you are having a really bad day.

Mines a miss independent we get a tail wag, a lick and a paw on a morning and that has to do

I try to make myself feel better that at least there's no issues with separation anxiety etc, but really I'd love her to be more cuddly

My staffy thinks she is a chihuahua Grin. Always, always has to be touching you in some form. Creeps onto your lap whenever possible and likes to be carried/held like a baby. If you aren't paying her the required amount of attention she will press her cheek onto your lips until you kiss her - obscuring your view of the telly anything so you just have a face full of dog.

I love her, even when she is annoying me.
