Just wondering if anyone does this? How often do you have to be able to commit to turning up? Another thread got me thinking about the amount of dogs in rescue. I could probably commit to the weekends and some evenings in the week - would I have to be more regular than that or do you think a rescue would just say yes to me helping out? Is there anything else I should consider? I have quite a lot of experience but due to be in circumstances i can't currently have a dog.

They would snatch your hand off. Ring your local rescue and put your name down. You just do as and when

Look up the Cinammon Trust maybe? It is a charity that pairs up volunteer walkers with people unable to walk their dogs as often as needed but who don't wish to rehome them.Mainly the elderly who's much loved pets are so important to them,or people with disabilities or health problems.

I have dog walked for the Cinnamon Trust and they are a great organisation. Once you have registered, they will tell you about dogs in your area and give you the owner's contact details. I have always made a firm commitment of say two mornings and then offered extra walks when I had time.

You do need to respect the owner's wishes and the first dog I walked for them had never been off his lead and was not allowed to which was a bit sad.

Am now a long term fosterer of two dogs I walked. Grin

I have looked at the cinnamon Trust before they never seemed to have any dogs near me on their interactive map but will register and see if they have anything that's not been put on the map.

When I registered with them they sent me some posters and leaflets which I put up at the vets, local church halls, GPs etc hoping someone local would see them and I would have a customer!
